The movie starts simply enough with some odd actions happening around the world. Homage is rewarded to the Japanese original, as we see a Japanese fishing boat which has come across some unusual sea organism. A scared fisherman identifies the creature as Godzilla. We later distinguish a oversize foot print, where a scientist, played by Broderick is called in to investigate. It doesn’t take long to find out that Godzilla is heading for New York. And that means danger.

After they pull together the experts, we run into the common clash between the scientists and the forces. The scientists want to research, collect data. It’s not every day you have the opportunity to find out more about a new species that was previously unidentified. Especially if it is over ten stories tall. The military, on the other hand, simply wants to destroy it, as it poses a risk to national security. Since this is a catastrophe motion picture rather than a logical documentary, the military wins, and they employ the scientist to help them destroy the monster before he destroys New York.

Enter the inscrutable scientist from France, played by Jean Reno. Keeping with the metaphorical representation of the original, the monster was certainly created by nuclear radiation. And seeing as France is the only country who has been lately doing nuclear tests, we get a French representative who apparently has inside information on how to duly kill the seemingly un killable monster.

The first catastrophic exposure we find is that the monster is headed straight for Madison Square Garden. This of course, is the most horrible likely situation, as the Garden is packed with individuals. They must empty them at once, and slaughter the monster before he gets there. The question remains as to why he is heading for the Garden in the first place.

What we find out is just as disconcerting. The monster who is not actually a he, but not really a she either. The ogre is heading to the Garden so it can lay eggs. Lots of eggs. And out of these eggs will hatch baby Godzillas who may rapidly grow into giants and annihilate the Earth. So the scientists and the military must race against time to wipe out the monster and its offspring before its too late. As an added bonus, the soundtrack for this spectacular movie includes a attractive remake of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir,” by P Diddy.

Our story starts out in ultramodern England. A disease has swept the world and has wiped out most of the poor populace. After losing a couple of members to these cannibalistic savages, our group presses on toward where they feel the doctor is.

What they hit upon is a complete 180 degree turn around from the Mad Max cannibals they left behind. What they find is the scientist/doctor who has set up a medieval sovereignty free from electricity or any other current handiness. When they find out the actual nature of the therapy, they must race against time in order to return the medicine back home. But while they are busily trying to stay alive and find the cure, the politicians in London are busy dealing with one more outburst, and using all their political power and contacts in order to place themselves to obtain the most authority. In a uncommon combination of every futuristic/horror/Mad Max style movie you can think of, this motion picture over delivers with dreadfully fantastic leisure.
