Fountain Pens: Would You Settle For Branded Ones?
When we were younger, our first writing tool started with a pencil. Then we proceeded with the ball point for writing down our notes while we only get to use our pencils for some drawing and other projects . At that time , we were already satisfied with ball pens that write. However, as we begin to learn how to write from autographs, greeting cards, etc., we started to like the clarity and the beauty of writing from fountain pens. Somehow, it brings out our character more when we would reply to questions like “What is love?” and then eventually we would be wishing that our teenage crushes would be impressed by the words we were using to come up with a really good definition of love. Well, we really believed we’ve written it well enough with the help of that sleek writing pen to get noticed.
There may have been a point in our lives where we may have been satisfied with cheap fountain pens that write better than a pen , probably because we were already smitten by their physical designs. Great color, exactly the shade we want, what more could we ask for? Of course, we do want more from a fountain pen other than experiencing a great disappointment when the ink leaks and smears ink stains all over our hands, the paper, and even in our clothes. That’s completely gross , right?
That terrible messy ordeal with cheap pens made us think if indeed we deserve to have what we were only willing to pay for. Somehow, there’s some slight truth to that. However, it is not likely that we come across reasonably priced fountain pens – we can definitely find one that fit just right for our budget and writing needs – something we would never regret losing.
However, there are really situations where we would be able to compare fountain pen experiences when we would receive them as presents from someone close to us or as a sort of a company prize for a job well done.
We may have remembered what it felt like to have received our very first branded fountain pen Parker. At first, it felt like it would be safer when it’s not lifted out of the box but then again, what are pens for – they’re writing instruments.
If we compare fountain pen prices of the branded ones (Mont Blanc, Parker, Waterman, Pelikan) with the ones we can buy at dollar stores, they’re really expensive. These fountain pens are expensive because these are branded pens, better kept as collectibles .
So, if collecting fountain pens is your hobby , you probably wouldn’t mind spending for a Mont Blanc fountain pen, for example, for the price of $160,000 . The price is really wow because London jewelers have embellished the pen with diamonds. Now you have both: an expensive jewelry and a writing instrument. The next thing you might need is a really good insurance policy for security purposes . Don’t be puzzled though. Not all Mont Blanc fountain pens are sold around these prices. You can probably get the regular ones for under five hundred dollars . The same goes for other designer pens . There are range of prices for various kinds of Parker, Pelikan, Waterman, and all other brands .
