Put The Whole World On Your Desk

2 weeks ago was my husband’s birthday, and let me tell you, I was in a real pickle. I didn’t even have a clue of what to get him. He’s very tech savy, and those kinds of things get him excited. It’s always all on the subject of computers and gizmos that I can neither remember nor appreciate. And besides, if he actually wants it, he just purchases it himself. I try not to think about the sum of money that goes towards this.

Then, I was downstairs trying to make any sort of progress in tidying his office, when I finally understood that the answer had been staring me in the face. To clarify this, permit me describe his office first. My husband’s office is the gloomy, dank pit of all that is unholy. One can find piles of newspaper all over the place, stacks of instruction manuals, file folders, paperclips, post-its, you name the office supply and it is certainly in there somewhere. And am I permitted to touch any of the papers or books? Oh, no! Every single thing is where it is for a reason, he would be unable to find a ton of work and so on and so forth Therefore I clean on all sides of them, cautiously throwing away any trash that clearly does not comprise of notes on it (he writes on napkins and other stuff regularly).

This stuff, I do think I can deal with. So it looks like a man works here, okay.† At least, my housekeeping abilities cannot be held accountable for that! But the space is 100% unornamented; unless you count the wonderful leather bound books here and there, the mini sculpture on his desk, and the world map poster on the wall. Now, I am mostly positive, knowing my partner, that the thought behind the statue on the desk as well as poster attached to the wall, is that he was hoping to look studious. Obviously, we could have enough money better than that shoddy poster, however he would by no means expend the time which makes it happen.

So, clearly a surprise to him is also a present to me! I searched everywhere before I discovered specifically I sought. To my astonishment, I got the idea of getting him a globe. I in no way would have dreamed that this might be the answer, but the harder I thought about it, I knew a  Replogle Globe globe will be wonderful way to give his administrative center some much needed style and appeal. Adding a vintage world globe to his office could produce that “old world” look that you could observe in an old library in England or something. I found striking old world globes, including desktop globes, and even floor standing globes from Replogle, which I think look amazingly tasteful (Definitely 1000s of times better than that darn map poster on the wall!).

I ended up deciding on an old world desktoptop globe and slipped it on his muddled desk while he was hanging out with the guys. What a surprise, ha! It had been fairly tough getting all his textbooks and documents back precisely as they were, but we know we will manage it okay. And boy, did he love “his” gift! (Boy do I!)
