Flooring

Climate control is dependent to a large degree by the direction the room is facing. You can get a simple unit which goes through the wall, costs about ?500 and has a heating option as well so that you can have the best of both worlds in both winter and summer. Apart from a few tricky bits, they are relatively easy to install and not as expensive as the split units. They do make a bit of a noise but they are effective. Shop around a bit and compare specifications and prices (remember that the size of the room is the most important factor) and then make an informed choice.
Sound Insulation
Some equipment such as electric steps and treadmills make quite a lot of noise, not to mention the noises made by weights being brought together or falling. You must take your neighbours and the other occupants of your house into consideration and add some kind of sound insulation.
